Nairobi, 3rd July 2020 JUBILEE INSURANCE KENYA has today donated 2000 face masks to LEA Client Services Ltd, as part of support towards 500 families of children living with special needs affected by the Global COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic.



This pandemic has adversely affected families supporting the children living with special needs. COVID-19 continues to spreads across the world with immediate and long term social economic effects on national economies and individual citizens.


Following the Government's directives focused on reducing the spread of COVID-19, measures such as working from home, travel restrictions, the closure of schools, the suspension of public gatherings, and a nightly curfew has led to many of these families losing their livelihood because of job cuts or businesses closure and casual jobs among other difficult situation.


With directives on closure of all institutions of learning, these children are now home and in dire need of support to enable them to access nutrition, educational materials, physiotherapy, and psychotherapy that they would ordinarily receive in their various special needs schools. Schools and learning institutions are a haven for these children, where they rely on for their well-being and development in order to learn.


It is therefore critical for the country to extend available social assistance programs to provide such households with food, water, and other basic supplies to cope with the crisis. Many of these poor households depend on basic needs supported by government and their partners to reduce chances of them running out of basic essentials to support their families. It is for this reason Jubilee Insurance Kenya has supported these families of children living with special needs with 2000 face masks for their young ones.


Giving is not just about making a donation; it is about making a difference. With this noble initiative by LEA Client Services Ltd by providing an opportunity to help these children as they adjust to a new routine as caregivers are struggling to provide basic needs for them, both teams have made a great difference.”

Nairobi, 2nd June 2020 – Rotary District 9212 and Rotary Nairobi Utumishi Club has today donated food packs worth Ksh. 750,000 to LEA Client Services Ltd, as part of support towards 500 families of special needs children affected by the Global COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic.



The Rotary District 9212 brought together the Rotary District National Emergency Response team chaired by Rtn. Joe Kamau, Rtn. Joe Otin, PDG Geeta Maneek – fundraising lead and Anuja Prashar head of distribution have to date distributed 7000 wash stations, 7500 food hampers across the country. The target is to distribute 17,500 hampers by end of June. Each hamper, worth Ksh 1,500 contains one kilogram of sugar three kilograms of rice, two litres cooking oil, six kilograms of maize flour, two packets of porridge flour, two kilograms of beans and two kilograms of green grams.


With Schools closed during the Covid-19 period, the impact has been more severe for special needs children and their families, interrupting learning, compromising nutrition, causing childcare problems, and increasing economic cost to families who cannot work or whose salaries have reduced drastically.


The COVID-19 outbreak has created additional challenges for children with disabilities and their families. Apart from being concerned with their children’s elevated risk for infection, loss of family income and reduced access to food, medical and hygiene supplies, parents of children with disabilities also find themselves responsible for their often complex physical, academic and psychological needs as they are mostly cut off from all in-person services and support.


“Nearly every family we know with special needs is struggling right now. Their lives are uniquely challenging in normal times, but in today's COVID-19 world, families with special needs children are dealing with a new reality that is creating incredible amounts of stress in the home.”

The Rotary District 9212 National Emergency Response Team has conducted food distribution program across the country, impacting over 4000 families in hotspot areas that have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Rotary District 9212, works with Rotary clubs across the country and local distribution agents to reach the most vulnerable members of society.


Rtn. Teri Tahiya Mooroga President of Rotary Nairobi Utumishi Club emphasized that “without service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It is therefore important to the people who serve as well as to the recipient. This is the way in which we ourselves grow and develop one another.”

This pandemic has adversely affected families supporting the children living with special needs. The COVID-19 continues to spread across the world with immediate and long term social economic effects on national economies and individual citizens.

Closure of learning institutions and business have resulted in many and diverse challenges among the families of children living with special needs.


Schools and learning institutions are a haven for these children, where they rely on for their well-being and development in order to learn. Many of these families have lost livelihoods because of job cuts or businesses closure and casual jobs among other difficult situation.


Many of these poor households depends on basic needs supported by government and their partners. However, with schools closed, families supporting the special needs children are running out of basic essentials to support their families.
